Early Childhood Program

Welcome to MSAD's Early Childhood Program

MSAD offers early childhood education for Deaf/DeafBlind and Hard of Hearing (D/DB & HH) children ages 0-5. Our Early Childhood Program (ECE) is comprised of three classrooms - Home Visits/Toddler, Preschool and PreKindergarten. Our available services are broken down by your child’s age. We serve all families with D/HH children regardless of their degree of hearing loss or the family’s choice of amplification. Our program celebrates language, offering full access to language in a natural environment.

MSAD follows the ASL/English Bilingual philosophy that allows content to be taught through both academic and social American Sign Language (ASL) and English in order for students to develop competencies in their first and natural language (ASL) and English language (written/spoken English).

All of our Early Childhood classrooms uses the Creative Curriculum which outlines 38 objectives for students Birth-Kindergarten that are predictors for school success and aligned to Minnesota's Early Childhood Indicators of Progress.

For children in the classroom setting who have an IFSP/IEP, services such as speech, occupational therapy, physical therapy or blind visually impaired direct service minutes, our specialists come into the classroom and work with students in the classroom setting. For those children who would benefit from pull-out services, these are also provided through MSAD by our specialized staff.
