The Minnesota State Academies provide on-site health clinic facilities. The health clinic at MSAD is located in the basement of Tate Hall and the health clinic at MSAB is located near the dormitories. The clinics are staffed by Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) and Registered Nurses (RN’s). There is a Licensed School Health Nurse who works between the Academy for the Blind and the Academy for the Deaf campuses.
The health clinic at MSAD is staffed Sunday from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm; Monday through Thursday from 6:30 am to 10:00 pm; and Friday from 6:30 am to 2:30 pm. MSAB health clinic is staffed on Sunday from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm; Monday through Thursday from 6:30 am to 9:00 pm; and Friday from 6:30 am to 2:30 pm.
The nursing staff offer health education, give medication, perform specialized health treatments, evaluate ill or injured students, provide first aid care, monitor immunization compliance, complete health screenings (vision screening at MSAD and hearing screening at MSAB), maintain health records, provide case management, and other school based nursing services.
