Information Technology: Your Technology. Our Passion.

The MN State Academies Information Technology department is responsible for purchasing, installing and maintaining systems related to network infrastructure, student information, video systems, telephones, voicemail, teleconferencing and software programs.  The goal of the department is to support the academic agenda and all stakeholders at the MN State Academies.

Our staff of 4 Information Specialists currently supports 12 buildings on 2 campuses. We are a PC based Agency with over 225 networked computers. We maintain over 150 Voice over IP phones and voicemails throughout the Academies.

MSA Information Technology provides Helpdesk Support for all Academies staff and students to ensure that access to technology is as consistent and continuous as possible.  The department uses an escalating solutions model to efficiently handle everything from routine support calls to problems with infrastructure in the most effective way possible.

Information Technology is responsible for staff development as it relates to the use and adoption of computer technology and resources in the classroom.  Training opportunities for staff are offered on a regular basis.

The MSA Information Technology department also maintains various databases designed to support administration and teaching staff.  MSA maintains a broad web presence through the Academies website at www.msa.state.mn.us and through the campus websites at www.msab.state.mn.us and www.msad.state.mn.us.

Technology Highlights
Through the State of MN Office of Enterprise Technology the Academies have purchased a total of 24 Interactive Whiteboards for classrooms and computer labs.  The boards, installed during the 07/08 school year, add another avenue of interaction between teachers and students.  Replacing the traditional chalk board with electronics makes classroom instruction more interactive and interesting.

All new desktop and laptop computers are being installed on both campuses.  These computers use Microsoft’s Windows Vista operating system and Office 2007
